New 'Wheel of Time' Animated and Video Game Adaptations Are in the Works

Amazon abruptly canceled its live-action Wheel of Time series after three seasons, and fan efforts to revive it fell short. Showrunner Rafe Judkins had suggested the story might continue elsewhere. Now a deal calls for several new adaptations: a video game, an animated feature and an animated television series, all being developed by Thomas Vu.

Vu, whose credits include Netflix's Arcane and work on League of Legends, said, "I see tremendous opportunity in expanding The Wheel of Time into fully authentic, integrated, interactive, and animated storytelling experiences. The depth of the mythology provides a foundation for sustained, multi-platform franchise growth." The projects join a slate from iwot Studios, which owns the property's multimedia rights and has previously announced the animated prequel film The White Tower and a live-action prequel, Age of Legends.
