New York Times Added 1.4 Million Digital Subscribers in 2025
The New York Times added 1.4 million digital-only subscribers in 2025, including about 450,000 in the fourth quarter, ending the year with 12.78 million total subscribers and on pace to reach its stated goal of 15 million by the end of 2027. A change in counting after the introduction of family subscriptions in September, which are counted as two subscribers, accounted for less than 3 percent of the digital-only total.
Subscriptions for more than one product continued to increase, and by the end of the fourth quarter just over half of the total subscriber base paid for multiple products; the company said it would no longer break out that figure. Average revenue per digital subscriber was $9.72 for the fourth quarter, up less than 1 percent year over year.
Total revenue for the quarter reached $802.3 million, up 10.4 percent from a year earlier. Adjusted operating profit rose 12.8 percent to $192.3 million while operating costs increased 10.5 percent to $640.7 million.
