Next-Gen Xbox On Track For 2027 Launch Says AMD CEO
AMD CEO Lisa Su said Valve is on track to begin shipping its AMD-powered Steam Machine early this year, and that development of Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox featuring an AMD semi-custom [System on Chip] is progressing to support a launch in 2027. Su’s remarks were reported by Gamesbeat ahead of a financial call.
Su did not present the 2027 timing as a firm confirmation, and she noted that both the PS5 and Xbox Series X/S would be entering their seventh year on the market at that point, which she suggested is a typical time for a refresh. Valve has a confirmed release date of 2026 for its Steam hardware family, and Valve said the hardware family will expand in early 2026 without specifying which devices.
Su’s comments indicate Valve could begin selling and shipping Steam Machines within the next few months. Su did not discuss pricing, but the report mentioned factors likely to push prices higher, including tariffs, rising memory costs driven by demand from AI data centers, and recent high prices for gaming-adjacent hardware.
