Nicholas Brendon, the actor best known for playing Xander Harris on Buffy the Vampire Slayer, has died at the age of 54. His family released a statement via The Hollywood Reporter confirming his passing. They said he passed in his sleep of natural causes and paid tribute to his work and his passion for painting and art.
The family described him as passionate, sensitive and endlessly driven to create, and noted that while he had struggled in the past he was on medications and treatment to manage his diagnosis and was optimistic about the future. They asked for privacy as they grieve and celebrate his life.
Brendon starred as Xander across all seven seasons of Buffy the Vampire Slayer, playing one of Buffy’s closest friends and a key member of the “Scooby Gang.” The show’s main cast included Sarah Michelle Gellar, Alyson Hannigan, Anthony Head, Charisma Carpenter, David Boreanaz and James Marsters.
