Nick Reiner pleads not guilty in stabbing deaths of his parents
Nick Reiner pleaded not guilty at his arraignment on two counts of first‑degree murder in the stabbing deaths of his parents. He appeared Monday in a downtown Los Angeles courtroom and was represented by public defender Kimberly Greene. He has been held without bail in solitary confinement at the Twin Towers Correctional Facility.
Rob Reiner and Michele Singer Reiner were found stabbed to death in their Brentwood home on Dec. 14; he was 78 and she was 70. The LA County Medical Examiner’s Office said both died from "multiple sharp force injuries" and ruled their deaths a homicide. He was arrested after the slayings.
Nick has struggled with drug addiction, been in and out of rehab and was diagnosed with schizophrenia. The night before the killings he had gotten into an argument with his parents at a party, and at his first court appearance he wore a suicide prevention smock.
