Arsenal’s set-piece coach Nicolas Jover receives a bonus payment each time the club scores from a set-piece, an incentive written into his contract that rewards the marginal gains credited with helping keep the team atop the Premier League. The 44-year-old signed a deal running until 2027 as part of a coaching-staff renewal after Mikel Arteta extended his contract in 2024, with assistant Albert Stuivenberg and goalkeeping coach Inaki Cana also securing new terms.

The financial incentives are showing up in the statistics. Arsenal have scored 16 Premier League goals from corners this season, equalling the single-season record shared by Oldham Athletic (1992-93), West Brom (2016-17) and Arsenal’s own 2023-24 total, and with nine games remaining Jover looks likely to trigger further payments.

The Gunners have opened the scoring from a corner nine times this term, matching Southampton’s 1994-95 mark, and have registered nine match-winning goals via corners, surpassing Manchester United’s previous total of eight from 2012-13.
