Nicole Kidman stars in Scarpetta, an eight-part crime drama based on Patricia Cornwell’s novels that premiered on Prime Video on March 11. She plays Dr. Kay Scarpetta, a forensic pathologist who applies her intellect to solving complex crimes; the cast also includes Jamie Lee Curtis, Bobby Cannavale, Ariana DeBose, and Simon Baker.

Three episodes of the debut season were directed by David Gordon Green, with Elizabeth Sarnoff serving as showrunner. FlixPatrol placed Scarpetta at number one across Prime Video immediately after its debut, knocking Guy Ritchie’s Young Sherlock from the top spot; Young Sherlock had been released a week earlier and maintained the lead until then.

Young Sherlock holds an 84% critics' score and "Certified Fresh" status on Rotten Tomatoes, where critics praised its liberal adaptation and Ritchie’s signature style. Scarpetta sits at a 71% critics' score and a 50% audience score on Rotten Tomatoes; reviews skewed mostly positive while audience reaction was more mixed.
