Nicole 'Snooki' Polizzi reveals cervical cancer diagnosis

Nicole “Snooki” Polizzi revealed she has stage 1 cervical cancer after the results of a recent cone biopsy showed adenocarcinoma. She said the doctors were able to remove the tumor with the cone biopsy and that the diagnosis, while not what she hoped for, was caught early: “Obviously not the news I was hoping for, but also not the worst news, just because they caught it so early.

Thank freaking god.” Polizzi said her next step is a PET scan to see whether the cancer has spread. Her oncologist presented treatment options — chemo radiation or a hysterectomy — and she indicated the hysterectomy is probably the smart choice; she added she will be able to keep her ovaries but may also need lymph nodes removed.

She urged women to get pap smears after saying she had wrestled with abnormal pap results for three or four years and recently underwent a colposcopy and biopsy. Polizzi asked others with cervical cancer to share their experiences so women do not have to face the diagnosis alone.
