Niecy Nash-Betts' detective in The Hunting Party revealed as serial killer

Nbc reports that Niecy Nash-Betts guest-stars as Detective Erica Burke in The Hunting Party Season 2, Episode 2, "Adrian Gallo," appearing opposite Melissa Roxburgh's Agent Rebecca "Bex" Henderson.

Burke, who originally broke the case against escapee Adrian Gallo, provides Bex a rare chance to commiserate about losing a colleague and the stresses of the job. Roxburgh said she welcomed Nash-Betts as a scene partner, calling her "an acting powerhouse," and praised the actress's portrayal of the character's duality — appearing forthright at first and then revealing darker motives.

In the episode's final minutes, Bex discovers Burke has been burying her own victims in the walls of her home — thirteen in total — a turn Roxburgh said she did not see coming. Roxburgh credited the writers for inventing creatively tortured characters and teased future episodes will include a figure inspired by an Ed Gein–type killer. New episodes air Thursdays at 10/9c and stream next day on Peacock.
