Nifty Gateway to close NFT marketplace on February 23, 2026
Beincrypto reported that Nifty Gateway will shut down its NFT marketplace on February 23, 2026, and has entered withdrawal-only mode effective immediately, urging users to move funds and digital assets off the platform; the company said customers holding USD, ETH, or NFTs will receive email instructions on how to withdraw.
Gemini acquired Nifty Gateway in 2019, with the Winklevoss-led exchange supplying the regulatory, custody, and security infrastructure that supported the marketplace and its later evolution into Nifty Gateway Studio. Launched around 2020, the platform became known for curated digital art drops and credit-card purchases that helped onboard non-crypto-native buyers, hosted high-profile collaborations during the 2021 boom, but later saw trading volumes collapse and was hit by a 2021 hack.
Nifty Gateway Studio, launched in 2024 as a Web3 creative arm focused on on-chain experiences and projects ranging from limited-edition collectibles to interactive drops blending AI and blockchain, faces an uncertain future: the company did not provide specific guidance and did not immediately respond to requests for comment. Users are required to withdraw all assets before February 23, 2026, after which the platform will cease operations entirely.
