Nightclub bombing in Peru injures 33, including minors
A bombing at the Dalí nightclub in the province of Trujillo on Peru’s northern coast injured 33 people in the pre-dawn hours, authorities said Saturday. Responsibility and motive remain unclear. At least five of the injured were in serious condition; some victims suffered amputations and shrapnel wounds and were undergoing surgery, Gerardo Florián Gómez, executive director of the Trujillo Health Network, told reporters.
The injured included three minors aged 16 and 17. Fiorella Mantilla, who was at the club, said she had glass embedded in her legs and recalled that "it sounded as if the sound system had suddenly been turned off." In a witness video published by La República, people inside the club shouted "Bomb!" and "Let’s go!" before a woman on the floor was filmed and someone called for help.
The blast comes less than a month after another explosion in Trujillo that damaged 25 homes but caused no injuries.
