Nikki Glaser, hosting the Golden Globes for a second consecutive year, opened with a rapid-fire monologue that took aim at several targets, including CBS News. She skewered the news division led by Bari Weiss, saying, “And the award for most editing goes to … CBS News,” and adding in the style of an announcement, “CBS News.

America’s newest place to see B.S. news,” referring to how “60 Minutes” pulled a segment about an El Salvador prison. Glaser’s set mixed slashing lines with softer, sillier jokes; the critic called it a “clinic” in winning over a room without pandering. The piece noted that she has become a bigger star in the past year and was the only woman on Billboard’s list of the top 10 highest-grossing tours of 2025.

In a landscape of largely family-friendly stand-up hosts, her material was described as having more bite. Her approach drew visible reactions from the room: stars often looked worried and then laughed, and the critic said he had “rarely seen Sean Penn look so happy” when Glaser mocked him.

She softened barbs with praise, telling George Clooney she loved him after a jibe about his Nespresso commercials, and aimed at familiar targets such as Kevin Hart’s height and Leonardo DiCaprio’s girlfriends.
