Horror has helped shape television, broadening the medium and building it into the modern powerhouse it is today. From The Twilight Zone to Stranger Things, the genre has been a staple since broadcasting began, offering tales that excite and terrify. Many horror series became widely acclaimed and remembered, but plenty of excellent shows have been swept under the rug.

This piece spotlights nine forgotten horror shows that deserve a second look. Channel Zero aired on SyFy from 2016 to 2018 as an anthology with three self-contained seasons. It blends supernatural mystery, dark fantasy, body horror and slasher elements into unsettling, nightmare-inducing stories.

Critics received it well, and although it never reached mainstream viewership during its run, it has become a steady cult favorite among anthology and horror fans. The Hitchhiker ran on HBO and the USA network from 1983 to 1991, spanning six seasons.
