The phrasing stood out because Nintendo has a history of restricting or censoring NSFW content on its platforms, making the overt admiration notable.

Fans have also pointed out that Leon appears to be married, with what looks like a wedding ring on his ring finger, though no one knows to whom.

Nick Apostolides, the actor who has played Leon since Resident Evil 2 Remake, reacted to the surge of memes around the character, calling the thirst-trap jokes "funny as hell" and adding, "that's what you get when you portray a highly, highly sexualized and good-looking character."
