No, GTA 6 Isn’t Skipping Physical Discs At Launch
Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick told Variety that recent online claims Rockstar Games would delay GTA 6's physical disc release in favor of a digital-only launch to prevent leaks are not true. "That's not the plan," Zelnick said, addressing a rumor that began in January and spread via outlets such as Dexerto and social platforms including Reddit, Twitter, YouTube, and Facebook.
Kotaku said it was unable to verify the original report and noted the claim always seemed odd, since digital games have leaked through pre-loads before, including in the case of GTA V. Zelnick's statement calls the circulating rumor false.
GTA 6 is scheduled to launch November 19 for PS5 and Xbox Series X/S, and Take-Two has confirmed that marketing for the game will begin sometime in the summer.
