Noni Madueke has been awarded an Olimpico goal that ends his 12-month Premier League scoring drought after Arsenal's 4-0 win at Leeds United at Elland Road on Feb 1, 2026, the Premier League confirmed. Arsenal were already ahead when Madueke swung over a corner in the 38th minute.

Leeds goalkeeper Karl Darlow palmed the delivery onto the inside of the post as he tried to punch it clear, and the effort was initially recorded as an own goal. Madueke told BBC Sport he was unhappy with the original decision: “How can that be an own goal? It was going on target, if the keeper’s not in the goal then it goes in, so, I don’t understand how that’s an own goal.

So Premier League please take a look at that and fix it for me.” The Premier League’s Goal Accreditation Panel reviewed the incident and has now credited the strike to Madueke, giving the former Chelsea winger his first Premier League goal for Arsenal. Madueke moved to Arsenal from Chelsea in the summer of 2025; his last Premier League goal came for Chelsea against Manchester City on January 25, 2025.

He has scored three Champions League goals for Arsenal this season. Madueke had been drafted into Mikel Arteta’s starting XI after Bukayo Saka’s injury, and Arteta said the winger “was ready.” Ex-England midfielder Fara Williams added that Madueke has performed when given opportunities and “will be a headache” for managers.
