Nothing showed the base Phone 4a at MWC ahead of its "Built Different" launch in London on March 5. The company plans two models, the 4a and a 4a Pro, but the Pro remains unrevealed. The handset is available in black, blue, pink, and white; this was the first time the blue and black variants were on display.

The blue is vibrant and the pink is pastel, while the black and white options are more understated. On the white, blue, and pink models the camera module is silver, and the black version uses a color-matched camera housing. The design keeps Nothing's signature language but adds a transparent window that reveals the internals beneath.

A pill-shaped camera bump sits at the top centre, with the flash offset above it and surrounded by a ring of coils that match each colorway. The Glyph Interface returns as a bar with six square lights and an extra red recording light; each square contains nine mini-LEDs that can be customised and are intended to be less distracting than the lights on the Phone 3a.
