Nvidia's DLSS 5 mocked online as 'AI slop'
Nvidia’s reveal of DLSS 5 has been met with more ridicule than awe. The RTX 50-series technology, which uses machine learning and real-time neural rendering to “infuse pixels with photoreal lighting and materials,” was pitched as a leap for game graphics — but the internet has been filling up with memes that poke fun at its uncanny results.
Viewers have likened DLSS 5 to social-media beauty filters, pointing out that versions of Resident Evil Requiem characters like Grace and Leon look like entirely different people. Nvidia maintains the system does not alter textures or geometry and genuinely improves environmental elements, yet many gamers remain unconvinced and have labeled the changes “AI slop” that violate artistic integrity.
