Object Pokémon have long gotten a bad rap. When Pokémon Black and White introduced Unova’s roster, some players complained that new designs felt uninspired, with designers “slapping a set of eyes on an ice cream cone or two and calling it a day.” Not every Pokémon will be a Sprigatito or a Pikachu, but object designs often deserve more credit.

Take Chandelure: a chandelier reworked into a dual Fire/Ghost final evolution from Litwick. Rather than just sticking eyes on an object, Chandelure turns a stained-glass base into a face while the branching spokes become arms, and its Pokédex entries lean into that eerie vibe: “Being consumed in Chandelure's flame burns up the spirit, leaving the body behind.” Ghost types help many object Pokémon stand out because they explore what happens when living things die and possess objects.
