Ohsnap begins shipping $150 Mcon magnetic phone controller after CES demo
Ohsnap is finally shipping its $150 Mcon controller after a year of tweaks, ZDNET's Kerry Wan wrote after trying the device at CES.
The Bluetooth controller magnetically mounts an iPhone or Android to a top plate; plopping a phone onto the pad and flicking outward reveals an assembly of joysticks and control keys underneath, Wan said.
Wan highlighted thoughtful design touches including extendable grips, a kickstand for upright use when the top plate is removed, and an optional $70 dock accessory that mirrors a phone to a monitor or TV, and wrote that "millions of viewers are in agreement" about those details.
Wan likened the Mcon to a pocketable Nintendo Switch and said the device arrives as phone emulators, cloud gaming and Qi2-enabled Android phones grow in popularity. The controller is available to buy now for $150, with deliveries expected to ship in late January.
