Oliver Glasner says referee gave Man Utd 'Old Trafford bonus' with penalty
Crystal Palace manager Oliver Glasner criticised the officiating after his side's 2-1 defeat at Manchester United, saying the penalty that levelled the match was wrong and that the foul began outside the box, suggesting the referee had given the hosts an 'Old Trafford bonus'.
The decisive moment came in the second half: Maxence Lacroix was shown a straight red for a last-man foul on Matheus Cunha, and referee Chris Kavanagh then awarded the spot kick which Bruno Fernandes converted. "The red card changed the game completely," Glasner said.
"It's not a penalty, maybe a red card for a foul outside the box. But the foul starts outside the box." United completed the comeback when Fernandes set up Benjamin Sesko for the winner, sealing a 2-1 victory. The result moved Manchester United to third with 51 points, while Crystal Palace remain 14th with 35.
