‘One Battle After Another’ wins big as Warner Bros. tops Golden Globes with nine awards
At the 83rd Golden Globes on Sunday, Paul Thomas Anderson’s One Battle After Another was the night’s biggest film winner, taking the award for best motion picture — musical or comedy as well as prizes for its director, screenplay and an acting award. Warner Bros. Discovery projects collected nine Globes in all, the most of any company.
Hamnet won best motion picture — drama and Jessie Buckley was named best actress in a drama for her role in the film. Wagner Moura won best actor in a drama for The Secret Agent, becoming the first Brazilian man to win in that category. Sinners picked up two awards, including prizes for original score and for box office and cinematic achievement.
On television, The Pitt won best drama and Noah Wyle took the lead-actor prize; Jean Smart won again for her work on Hacks. The Studio won best TV comedy, Netflix’s miniseries Adolescence and animated film KPop Demon Hunters were among streaming winners, and Good Hang with Amy Poehler received the Globes’ first award for best podcast.
Several performers — Timothée Chalamet, Rose Byrne, Rhea Seehorn and Jessie Buckley — were first-time Golden Globe winners. The ceremony unfolded amid ongoing industry attention on Warner Bros.
