One Piece Season 2 Review: Netflix's Near-Perfect Live-Action Returns
After two-and-a-half years, the live-action adaptation returns with Season 2, subtitled Into the Grand Line. Based on Eiichiro Oda's manga, the season follows Monkey D. Luffy (Iñaki Godoy) and his Straw Hat crew—navigator Nami (Emily Rudd), first mate Roronoa Zoro (Mackenyu), cook Sanji (Taz Skylar) and marksman Usopp (Jacob Romero)—as they enter the perilous Grand Line in search of the legendary One Piece.
The season adapts five main arcs—Loguetown, Reverse Mountain, Whisky Peak, Little Garden and Drum Island—and introduces the shadowy Baroque Works organization and its many eccentric members. Season 2 builds on Season 1’s careful translation of Oda’s world, bringing even zanier characters and vivid designs to life.
Iñaki Godoy continues to sell Luffy’s boundless, cartoonish energy without tipping into annoyance, and the core five possess winning chemistry. New additions include Charithra Chandran as Miss Wednesday, David Dastmalchian as the scene-stealing Mr. 3, and Mark Harelik as Dr.
