OpenClaw has touched off a quirky cultural moment across the US and China, with lobster headbands, claw-hand poses, and themed meetups becoming visible signs of community around the AI agent. The trend showed up in Silicon Valley — including a lobster suit on a recent podcast appearance and a lobster headband at Nvidia’s GTC — and at ClawCon in New York, where attendees wore lobster accessories and struck claw poses.

Engineers and executives have adopted the gesture online, posting photos with curled fingers and lobster props. One engineer shared a late-night photo after shipping work at Nvidia; a Chinese AI CEO posted a group shot with hands held like pincers and comments urging people to “stay clawing.” The lobster motif has extended to food and events.

At meetups in Shenzhen, organisers served piles of lobster and a team posted photos of cooking lobster hotpot on RedNote, saying they “ate three lobsters right in front of OpenClaw.” In New York, ClawCon featured a spread of lobster tails for attendees.
