Optiscaler has been updated to enable AMD's FSR 4 upscaling on RX 6000 (RDNA 2) graphics cards without requiring modified drivers. Previously, running FSR 4 on RDNA 2 hardware often meant using altered old drivers and suffered from extensive image ghosting. The capability stems from a leaked FSR source that included INT8 libraries, an alternative to the FP8 libraries used for RDNA 4 hardware.

Optiscaler automatically searches for the relevant upscaling DLLs and swaps in the FSR 4 INT8 replacements for RDNA 2 and RDNA 3 GPUs, and offers an in-game GUI accessed with a keyboard shortcut to simplify the process. The INT8 build is not identical to the official FP8 release, but it does give owners of older RDNA generations access to a machine-learning–based FSR 4 implementation, which is generally regarded as a significant improvement over earlier FSR versions.

AMD has so far declined to officially support the leaked INT8 variant, citing quality control and user experience concerns, while leaving open the possibility of future action.
