Original Scream 7 directors say sequel would have 'f*** you up'
Radio Silence — Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett — say they had a very different plan for Scream 7 before they left the project to make Abigail.
Bettinelli-Olpin has said they hadn’t read any draft of the version they would have made because they’d already left to do Abigail, and that their idea was simple: 'if Scream VI is like a secret feel-good movie, Scream 7's going to fuck you up.'
Gillett added that they talked about doing the opposite of the New York–scaled Scream VI by shrinking the story down into 'an ultra-contained, almost continuous, like minute-to-minute thing.'
Scheduling conflicts ultimately pushed Radio Silence off Ghostface and onto Abigail, which reunited them with Melissa Barrera. Barrera was later fired for her social media posts in support of Palestine, Ortega soon left, Christopher Landon then took over and later departed, leaving Kevin Williamson to take a stab at things.
