Orlando City in talks to sign Atletico Madrid and France star Antoine Griezmann
Orlando City are in talks to sign Atletico Madrid attacking midfielder Antoine Griezmann, who has a long-standing interest in Major League Soccer. The club is eager to finalise a deal before the primary transfer window closes on March 26; Griezmann has six goals in La Liga this season.
Discussions have been ongoing, with Sporting Director Ricardo Pereira making "multiple" trips to Spain as the club works to reach an agreement. At 34, Griezmann is arguably past his peak but remains an important part of Diego Simeone's squad, who are on the verge of qualifying for a Copa del Rey final.
Griezmann has long expressed interest in MLS, saying, "Everyone knows that MLS is my dream and my goal." Inter Miami were also interested but could not progress because they already have three designated players. Completing a move will be difficult. Griezmann is under contract through the end of the 2026-27 season and Atletico appear reluctant to let him go before the European summer window opens on June 15.
