Sergio Herrera celebrated twice on Saturday night after Raúl García’s 90th‑minute finish was eventually allowed to stand and Osasuna beat Real Madrid 2-1. García had curled a sublime strike beyond Thibaut Courtois at the north end of El Sadar, only for the assistant’s flag to go up; 64 seconds later the referee, Alejandro Quintero, reversed the decision and the goal was given, sending Herrera back along the touchline to join a delirious crowd.

The match had been turbulent earlier. Ante Budimir put Osasuna ahead from the spot after a VAR check that overturned an initial booking for simulation, and Vinícius levelled for Madrid following a superb run from Fede Valverde. Madrid rarely troubled from then on and Osasuna often looked the more assured side, daring to play and defending resolutely in the closing stages.

Herrera’s personality was central to the night: he made two key saves, has been an ever‑present this season and revelled in the atmosphere as fans showered the pitch with beachballs and floats.
