The first episode of Outlander's eighth and final season debuted Mar. 6, 2026 on STARZ in the US and Mar. 7, 2026 on MGM+ in the UK, receiving immediate critical acclaim and a perfect 100% Rotten Tomatoes score.

After 12 years on screens, the series — known for being both steamy and often violent — appears to be heading out on a high. Outlander has been a global success since its 2014 debut, drawing a devoted fanbase with its blend of fantasy, romance and history.

Based on Diana Gabaldon's novels, the season was renewed in 2023 and adapts the ninth book, Go Tell the Bees That I Am Gone, while also using parts of the upcoming final novel that is still being written.

Caitríona Balfe stars as Claire Randall Fraser and Sam Heughan as Jamie Fraser. The show follows nurse Claire, who is transported from 1945 to 1743, where a forced marriage to Jamie ignites a passionate relationship that leaves her torn between two lives. This is a developing story.
