Overwatch’s New Hero Draws Comparisons to Master Chief

Players have compared Emre, one of Overwatch’s new heroes, to Master Chief from Halo. Some noticed the likeness during play and the comparison quickly spread online. Emre’s kit is relatively straightforward, echoing Soldier: 76. He carries a three‑round burst rifle that can be aimed down sights without losing movement speed, a sidearm that fires explosive rounds and increases his running speed, and an ultimate that lets him fly and rain fire down on enemies.

He also carries frag grenades that bounce in a way reminiscent of Halo’s grenades. With certain perk upgrades the grenade can stick to enemies, drawing an even closer comparison to plasma grenades and triggering long‑dormant muscle memory for players familiar with Microsoft’s mascot.

After the game’s soft reboot this week the roster stands at 50 heroes, many with varying degrees of complexity.
