According to People, Owen Cooper won the 2026 Golden Globe for Best Performance by a Male Actor in a Supporting Role on Television at the 83rd annual ceremony on Sunday, Jan. 11. The 16-year-old became the youngest ever to win the category.

Cooper received the honor for his portrayal of Jamie Miller in Netflix’s Adolescence. In his acceptance speech he said, "Wow, standing here with a Golden Globe, it does not feel real whatsoever," and recounted taking drama classes despite being "the only boy there. It was embarrassing." He thanked Netflix and supporters, concluding, "Bring on 2026. You’ll never walk alone."

Nominees in the category included Billy Crudup (The Morning Show), Walton Goggins (The White Lotus), Jason Isaacs (The White Lotus), Tramell Tillman (Severance) and Ashley Walters (Adolescence). The report notes this was Cooper’s first Golden Globe nomination and win, and that Stephen Graham and Erin Doherty also earned nods while Adolescence was up for Best Television Limited Series, or Motion Picture Made for Television.

Adolescence is described as a limited series that follows a family unraveling after their 13-year-old son is accused of murdering his schoolmate and that it "taps into themes of toxic masculinity and unveils the impact social media has on young people."
