Palestinian-American Teenager Killed in West Bank Is Laid to Rest

The funeral for Nasrallah Abu Siyam, 19, was held Thursday in Mukhmas, a West Bank village north of Jerusalem, a day after he was shot dead by an Israeli settler, a witness and the Palestinian Health Ministry said. Dozens joined a procession carrying his remains through the hillside village.

Villagers said Mr. Abu Siyam was trying to stop settlers from stealing livestock at the edge of Mukhmas when violence erupted. Atta Kanaan, 54, who said he witnessed the events, described settlers throwing rocks, Mr. Abu Siyam being struck by a rock and then shot; the Palestinian Health Ministry said he later died of wounds from what it called "the bullet of settlers." Israeli soldiers were in the area and fired tear gas and sound grenades, villagers said; it was not clear whether they were at the shooting itself.
