Paradise Season 2: Survival Above Ground
Paradise’s second season abandons much of its underground focus and leans into a more traditional post-apocalyptic world, and the shift mostly pays off. The premiere three episodes widen the show’s scope, introduce new faces and perspectives, and present a more vulnerable—yet still formidable—Xavier (Sterling K.
Brown). Annie’s (Shailene Woodley) storyline, set against the unlikely backdrop of Graceland, establishes the season’s new tone. Her survival both illustrates Dr. Louge’s (Geoffrey Arend) grim predictions—tsunami, ash clouds, extreme cold—and humanizes the stakes in a way that echoes Samantha (Julianne Nicholson).
The reveal that Annie is pregnant offers a fragile note of hope. New arrivals complicate the above-ground landscape. Link (Thomas Doherty), a brilliant scientific mind who worked with the professor Samantha once had Billy (Jon Beavers) kill, emerges as a leader headed toward the rumored bunker.
