Paramount Deal Brings Harry Potter and Taylor Sheridan Under One Streamer
Paramount has agreed to acquire Warner Bros. Discovery in a deal estimated at $110 billion, a move that will bring the companies' libraries together and combine Paramount+ and HBO Max into a single streaming service. The merger pairs HBO’s upcoming Harry Potter series with Taylor Sheridan’s Yellowstone empire, meaning cowboys and wizards will share the same digital ranch.
CEO David Ellison told investors the combined company "will be home to many of the greatest, most recognizable and beloved franchises in the world, from 'Harry Potter' to 'Top Gun,' 'Star Trek' to 'Looney Tunes,' 'Game of Thrones' to 'Yellowstone.'" He said the company intends to invest in both studios' creative engines and keep HBO’s identity intact: "Our viewpoint is HBO should stay HBO." Ellison also pledged a robust theatrical slate—15 films per year, per studio—amounting to at least 30 theatrical releases annually.
