Paramount has time before raising its Warner Bros. Discovery bid

Paramount Skydance, led by David Ellison, is pursuing Warner Bros. Discovery but retains some breathing room despite a looming deadline. Direct talks between Paramount and WBD have resumed for the first time in months after Netflix granted WBD a weeklong waiver on negotiation exclusivity.

The waiver, which Netflix said aimed to "fully and finally resolve" the monthslong saga, expires at midnight on Monday. As of midday Monday, Paramount had not submitted a "best and final" bid, but the seven-day window is for WBD to negotiate with Paramount, not a hard deadline for Paramount.

"Anyone can make an offer up to the shareholder vote," and WBD’s shareholder meeting on March 20 allows investors to approve, reject, or abstain; shareholders preferring Paramount can tender shares to Ellison, with Paramount’s current tender deadline set for March 2 and potentially extendable.
