Patrice Evra denies he hates Arsenal and urges them to 'win at all costs'
Patrice Evra rejected the idea he bears a grudge against Arsenal, describing his barbs as mere banter while urging Mikel Arteta’s side to adopt a "win at all costs" mentality. The Manchester United legend, who won five titles, said Arsenal should be willing to "cheat and waste time" if it helps them finally secure the Premier League.
The title race shifted after Manchester City's draw with Nottingham Forest, and Evra welcomed Arsenal's subsequent victory over Brighton as a sign of progress. He recalled that Arsenal were once "easy" to play against, but argued that the ability to grind out "ugly" away wins is the hallmark of potential champions, even as memories of late-season collapses persist.
Speaking to Stake, Evra also referenced his Netflix joke about fans always awaiting the "next season" and urged the club on: "Come on Arsenal, you can do it this year," while admitting he "wouldn’t be surprised if they bottle it again." He said he hoped they would not repeat past disappointments.
