Patrick Hughes Provides Update on Netflix's 'The Raid' Reimagining

Director Patrick Hughes, known for The Expendables 3, The Hitman's Bodyguard and its sequel, has offered an update on Netflix’s planned reimagining of The Raid after speaking to MovieWeb. Hughes is also preparing the more serious War Machine, led by Alan Ritchson, which debuts on Netflix next week.

Released in 2011, Gareth Evans’ Indonesian thriller introduced Iko Uwais and follows a rookie member of an elite commando team as they infiltrate a crime lord’s high-rise. The film’s kinetic, brutally choreographed action established it as a modern action classic and led to a sequel.

Hughes said he worked on a script for Netflix and emphasized the project would be a “reimagining” rather than a straight remake, setting the story in a different location and on a grander canvas.
