Chelsea confirm Paul Green has left role as head of women’s football
Chelsea have announced that Paul Green has left his role as head of women’s football after 13 years at the club. His departure follows a period of sustained success in west London during which Chelsea Women claimed 19 trophies, and comes just days after the club confirmed Sonia Bompastor had signed a new contract running until 2030.
Green joined Chelsea in 2013 as assistant to Emma Hayes after moving from Doncaster Rovers Belles. He played a leading role in player recruitment and in shaping a squad that went on to win eight WSL titles, six FA Cups, three League Cup crowns and reach the Champions League final in 2020-21.
He was also involved in the decision to appoint Bompastor after Hayes left in 2024 to take over as USWNT coach; Bompastor arrived from Lyon and led an unbeaten domestic treble in her debut season.
