Aggro Crab founder and Another Crab's Treasure director Nick Kaman ended up in therapy after losing a bet with Content Warning lead developer Wilhelm Nylund. He later co-developed Peak with Nylund's studio, Landfall Games — a collaboration that sold more copies than Another Crab's Treasure and Content Warning combined.

Kaman told the story of Peak at a GDC 2026 panel, saying he felt a "raging jealousy" when he learned Landfall had made Content Warning in just six weeks while Another Crab's Treasure had taken about three years and was a month from release.

The wager — "whoever sells more copies pays for the other's therapy" — and the irony of the friendslop collab's commercial success became a defining part of Peak's backstory, Kaman recounted.
