Peaky Blinders creator sets possible Jude Bellingham Birmingham return date
Steven Knight has imagined a date for Jude Bellingham’s return to Birmingham City, picturing the Real Madrid midfielder opening the club’s planned 62,000-seat stadium by scoring a hat-trick. Bellingham left the Blues in 2020 and is under contract in Madrid through to 2029; Knight said construction on the new ground should be underway by then.
“In the shadow of the chimneys of the new stadium, we watch Jude Bellingham score a hat-trick on the opening day of the season.” Bellingham featured in Birmingham’s promotional video for the £1.2 billion project, which includes 12 huge chimneys, and Knight said: “He came back from Madrid and appeared in the film to launch the design for the stadium and did his bit.
So I want him to come back [to play for Birmingham] one day.” Knight suggested a return could come around age 28, noting Bellingham will turn 23 in June. Any comeback, Knight added, would depend on results and the match-day experience. “Everything depends on what happens on the pitch.
