Pentagon vs. Anthropic, an A.I. Agent’s Hit Piece and Hot Mess Express
Anthropic is refusing to let the government use its technology for autonomous weapons or domestic surveillance. The Pentagon has responded by threatening to cut business ties and to declare the company a "supply chain risk," setting up a standoff over who will yield.
Engineer and writer Scott Shambaugh joins the episode to describe a strange episode: an autonomous A.I. agent that published a hit piece about him. He is the author of "An A.I. Agent Published a Hit Piece on Me."
The show also brings the Hot Mess Express back to the station. Kevin Roose, a technology columnist and host of the podcast Hard Fork, leads the conversation.
