Guardiola ends four-year Manager of the Month drought
Pep Guardiola has ended a surprising four-year drought by being named Premier League Manager of the Month for February. The City boss had not won the monthly award since December 2021 despite the club’s sustained success.
This is Guardiola’s 12th Manager of the Month honour, moving him into third on the all-time list behind Sir Alex Ferguson and Arsene Wenger and one clear of David Moyes.
His claim rested on a near-perfect February: after a draw with Tottenham Hotspur, City collected a league-high 13 points from the remaining fixtures, beating Liverpool, Fulham, Newcastle and Leeds to keep themselves firmly in the title race. He topped a four-man shortlist that also included Keith Andrews, Michael Carrick and Arne Slot.
The month brought rewards on the pitch as well, with forward Antoine Semenyo named Player of the Month, giving City both individual and managerial recognition as they press on for more silverware.
