Pep Guardiola says that when he finally decides to leave Manchester City he will step away from football for a while. He told ESPN Brasil: "I want people to remember me however they want. After my contract with City, I'm going to stop. I'm sure. I don't know if I'm going to retire, but I'm going to take a break."

He added that every coach wants to win to create a memorable career and that he believes fans of Barcelona, Bayern Munich and City enjoyed watching his teams play. "I don't think we should ever live thinking about whether we're going to be remembered," he said.

Guardiola reflected on legacy and mortality, saying: "When we die, our families cry for two or three days and then that's it -- you're forgotten." He noted that coaching careers have good and bad spells and that "the important thing is not what people think of you," admitting he does not know what the future holds and that, in the end, it does not matter.
