Phil Lord and Christopher Miller on the live-action Spider-Noir
Amazon Prime and MGM+ will release Spider-Noir in May 2026. Set in 1930s New York City, the series stars Nicolas Cage as Ben Reilly, an aging private detective who once served as the city's only superhero called the Spider. Cage previously voiced the animated Spider-Man Noir in the 2018 film Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse and is expected to reprise that animated role in 2027's Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse.
Speaking on the show's press tour, Phil Lord and Christopher Miller said the live-action take differs from the animated version. Lord summed it up simply: "Well, he's flesh and blood." Miller added, "He's a live-action character, but he's a little bit different.
He's a different universe version of Spider-Noir, but it's a lot of the same ideas that Nic brought to the character and is bringing to this version of the character." The first trailer presents a more human, three-dimensional figure.
