Piper Curda and Bobby Moynihan on the Lesson Behind 'Hoppers'
Brought to life by a voice cast that includes young Piper Curda as well as veterans Meryl Streep, Bobby Moynihan, Jon Hamm, and Dave Franco, Disney and Pixar's Hoppers marks Pixar's 30th film since 1995. The story centers on a young girl named Mabel who works with scientists who've developed technology that lets humans put their brains into animal bodies and interact seamlessly with wildlife.
Curda said Mabel "goes so hard after what she wants" and often forgets that "there is more than one way to go about something," allowing softness and compassion to fall by the wayside. She credited Moynihan's King George with helping Mabel find those emotions, saying he adds "those little things to her toolkit and makes her a better builder." Moynihan described what Mabel teaches George: that "not everything is perfect," and that even when you want things to be, you must "take action." He added that "hope is an amazing thing, but if there's nothing behind it, then you're at a standstill," and that King George sometimes prefers that safe place.
