Pisa delivered perhaps their best game of the season, staying competitive despite being reduced to ten men for most of the match. Nicolas (6.5) controlled things well, while Calabresi (6.5) was convincing before leaving injured and Albiol (6) made a solid impact after coming on.

Caracciolo (8) was the standout, a defensive wall who also scored a brace. Moreo (8) opened the scoring and remained a constant threat; Angori (7.5), Canestrelli (7), Leris (7) and Aebischer (7) all made important contributions. Durosinmi (4.5) committed a massive blunder in the first half that left Pisa a man down for almost the entire match.

Manager Hiljemark (7.5) set up a combative, well organised side and made timely substitutions. Cagliari never took control despite the numerical advantage. Pavoletti (6.5) came on and replied with a goal, and Caprile (6) kept out several dangerous chances, but several players were below par — Obert was sent off, while Zé Pedro (5.5), Dossena (5), Mina (5.5), Palestra (5), Folorunsho (5) and Sulemana (5) struggled.
