Players Debate Whether Crimson Desert Paintings Are AI-Generated
Crimson Desert’s launch week has been turbulent: players criticizing convoluted controls, investors selling the developer’s stock, and reviewers offering mixed opinions. Now users are debating whether the action-adventure game incorporates AI-generated art. Since the game came out on Thursday, several players have shared screenshots of in-game paintings they suspect were created with generative tools.
One example, shared by Lex Luddy on Bluesky, appears to show a historical battle that, on closer inspection, resembles a chaotic mosh pit of centaurs and other half-man, half-horse figures brandishing spears. Figures on the ground seem to merge into rocks, and the piece hangs in an unusually ornate gold frame — a contrast many players found jarring.
