Players Reject DLSS 5; Bethesda and Nvidia Stress Artist Control
Nvidia unveiled DLSS 5, calling it an "AI-powered breakthrough" in visual upscaling. Early footage — including clips of Bethesda’s Starfield and altered images from Resident Evil Requiem — drew sharp online criticism, with many viewers finding the results unappealing.
Bethesda Game Studios replied on social media, calling the demonstration "a very early look" and saying "our art teams will be further adjusting the lighting and final effect to look the way we think works best for each game." The studio added that "this will all be under our artists’ control, and totally optional for players." Nvidia also published a clip of Todd Howard praising DLSS 5 as "amazing." Responses ranged from measured skepticism to blunt rejection.
