Playtesters want Dawn of War 4 combat to take longer
King Art Games has been showing a combat director for Dawn of War 4 that synchronises melee animations, pushing the idea of sync‑kills further than the original game. Senior game designer Elliott Verbiest told Deep Strike on Warhammer TV that those moments are worth slowing the game down to watch — something tabletop players can only imagine, no matter how well they paint their miniatures.
Verbiest said some tabletop mechanics don't translate well one‑to‑one to a screen, pointing to the necron resurrection orb as an example. "When you are playing in singleplayer for example resurrection orb feels amazing," he said, but it would be problematic in multiplayer.
Rather than keep the orb, the team added a necron building called the resurrection gallery. Once built you select a unit type and, if one of those dies, it comes back after a delay rather than immediately.
