Pokémon Champions: Everything We Know
Pokémon Champions is a free-to-play battle simulator set to become the new platform for competitive Pokémon play when it launches in April. It is not the RPG format players may expect; the game is built around competitive battles, whether for official tournaments or casual matches.
Pokémon can be transferred from the Pokémon Home storage app or recruited directly in the game. Recruiting and training in Champions is tied to Victory Points (VP). The in-game shop rotates available Pokémon; you can recruit one temporarily for no cost once a day or pay 1000 VP to keep it on your team.
Quick Coupons and Teammate Tickets, earned through in-game missions, are additional ways to recruit, and it is unclear how easy it will be to reach that VP total or whether costs will vary by Pokémon. The game will support ranked, casual, and private battles. In-app purchases include a one-time starter pack that adds 50 box spaces, music options, and training vouchers, atop the 30 free box spaces given by default.
